Dannie Allen “Pete” Caldwell Sr., age 77 of Sapulpa, passed away on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at his home with his family by his side. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, at 2:00 p.m., at the First Christian Church(Lee and Elm) in Sapulpa. Mike Witten and Dannie Caldwell Jr. will officiate. Interment will follow at Green Hills Cemetery, Sapulpa, Oklahoma. Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing.

Dannie was born on October 28, 1936 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma to the late Leslie Leroy and Constance Sherwood (Newman) Caldwell. Dan attended schools in Poteau and Sapulpa and was part of the 1953-54 senior class of Sapulpa. Dan married his high school sweetheart Barbara Jane Dyer on September 7, 1956 after his return from an overseas tour with the air force. Dan retired from the United States Air Force and was a lifetime member of the D.A.V. and the American Legion. Dan also worked with the Sapulpa Sears and Western Auto before taking over as pastor of the Full Gospel Baptist Church in Sapulpa in March of 1979. Dan and Barbara raised three sons and a daughter who also graduated from Sapulpa High School and all still reside very close to their parents home. Dan loved his home and dedicated much of his time working in the canyon and his yard. He was a dedicated pastor who considered his church family as family and friends. Dan and Barbara also made an effort to stay close to siblings with monthly get-togethers. Dan was extremely proud of his family and counted this as his greatest achievement.

Dan is survived by his wife Barbara of the home, sons, Dannie Caldwell Jr. and wife Patti of Sapulpa, Tray Caldwell and wife Angela of Tulsa, Kevin Caldwell of Cushing, daughter Wendy (Caldwell) Vanarsdel and husband Gary of Sapulpa, brothers Dale Caldwell and wife Carol of Poteau, David Caldwell of Keifer, sisters Paula (Caldwell) Hanna of Sapulpa, Linda (Caldwell) Hanna and husband Bob of Sapulpa, and thirteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.
