Services: Thurs., Dec. 6, 10 a.m.
Funeral services will be held in the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home Chapel, TODAY, (Thursday) at 10 a.m. for Taft resident, Robert E. Perkins, 75. Rev. David Daniel, pastor of the Calvary Temple Assembly of God, will officiate and burial will follow in the West Side District Cemetery. Mr. Perkins was born in Temple, Oklahoma on July 5, 1926 and passed away in a Bakersfield hospital on December 3, 2001. He proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, serving from January of 1952 until December of 1953. He received the Army Occupational Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He moved to Shafter in 1935 and moved to Taft for good in 1954. He had been employed as a pumper for MH, Whittier for many years. Mr. Perkins was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post #1998. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Florine Perkins in October of 1996. His survivors include his second wife, Daisy Perkins of Taft; his sisters, Jewel Sherman and Louise Doshier both of Shafter; his brother, G.W. Perkins of Bakersfield and by numerous nephews and nieces. Erickson & Brown Funeral Home, Taft.
