Birdie "Eva" [Barnett] Wright

Birdie Eva Barnett Wright was born to the late Glenn and Eva Russell Barnett on December 20, 1932 in Brazil, Indiana. She was the first living child of eight. She departed this life on September 12, 2014 at Kindred Hospital of Oklahoma in Oklahoma City, OK surrounded by her children and caregiver.

Eva received her elementary and high school education from the Indiana Public School system. She attended Indiana State University where she received her Bachelors and Masters degrees in Elementary Education. She also received continuing Education in the field of Special Education from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. Eva spent thirty-two years in the classroom teaching; twelve years were in her home state of Indiana, and twenty years were locally at Eisenhower Jr. High School in Lawton. Eva wanted to express her thanks to the States of Oklahoma and Indiana for allowing her to teach in the classroom.

Eva married Dr. Jesse R. Wright on September 4, 1960. They were married for fifty-four years. To this union three children were born.

Eva was baptized as one of Jehova's Witnesses on July 27, 1969. As an active member of the Heritage Hills Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, she enjoyed attending and participating in the meetings at the Kingdom Hall and sharing her faith with others through ministry. While her physical strength waned over time, her spiritual strength, faith and devotion to Jehovah was maintained through regular and continued Bible study as well as through audio meetings. Eva was loyal and faithful to her Creator right down to the end of her life.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Eva Russell Barnett; One brother, Foster Barnett; Two sisters, Grace Barnett & Maggie B. Austin.

She leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Dr. Jesse R. Wright of Lawton; three children, Jesse Glenn Wright of Lawton, Donna Marie Wright of Carrollton, TX, and Ralph Anthony Wright (Shanda Buchanan Wright) of Flower Mound, TX; two grandchildren, Blake Marcellus Buchanan Wright & Mikalya Brooke Buchanan Wright of Flower Mound, TX; a devoted caregiver, Isabel Box of Lawton; two brothers, Glenn Barnett of Munster, IN & Russell Barnett of Brazil, IN; two sisters, Mary Ann Barnett & Galena Barnett of Indianapolis, IN; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, congregation family and friends.
