Steven was raised and attended school in Wichita, KS. He graduated from Wichita Heights High School where he lettered in both track and baseball.

Steven and Carole Nulph, his high school sweetheart, were married on October 10, 1969 in Park City, KS.

Steven spent that year working for a medical supply company which inspired him to become involved in the medical field. He enrolled at Wichita State University where he received his certification as a respiratory therapist and worked in Wichita until 1975 when Steven and Carole moved to Bull Shoals, AR where he served as head of the hospital's respiratory therapy department. Steven and Carole moved to Lawton in 1978 where he served at Comanche County Memorial Hospital as a therapist. In 1998, Steven began working at Southwestern Medical Center until he was forced into medical leave.

He had always been interested in civic work, and through the years, had been active in volunteer positions with the Wichita Sheriff's Patrol, Bull Shoals Volunteer Fire Department, and from 1993 to present with the Lawton Police Department Sentinels.

Steven enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting, Ford Mustangs, Wichita State Shocker Baseball, OU and Notre Dame Football, and the New York Yankees.

With all his interests and professional obligations, Steven always found time for his family that he loved so dearly, and his granddaughter Katy who was so very special to him!

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife Carole of the home; two sons, Steven G. McGuire and Clinton W. McGuire, both of Lawton; a daughter, Jamie Lynn Reynolds and husband Ben of Blanchard; an only grandchild, Kathryn Elizabeth "Katy" McGuire of Blanchard; two sisters, Dorothy Morgan and husband Ronnie of Largo, FL, and Shirley Williamson and husband John of Charleston, SC; a brother, Ronnie Hartman and wife Lillian of Disney, OK; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends he has accumulated through his job and civic volunteering.
