John W. Marshall

Birth date: September 8, 1930
Death date: June 25, 2014

John W. Marshall, Lawton, was born September 8, 1930 in Clarinda, Iowa to Dale and Vina [Nelson] Marshall. He died in Wichita Falls, TX on June 25, 2014 at the age of 83.

John attended Clarinda High School. After high school he enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served for four years. After his honorable discharge from the Navy, he enlisted in the United States Army. During his army career, he earned numerous awards and medals, which include the Purple Heart and Good Conduct Medal Bronze Clasp with 2 loops. After proudly serving the country for 20 years, he retired at Fort Sill and began working for civil service until his second retirement.

He loved golfing, fishing and playing cards, but his favorite past-time was attending his grandchildren's ball games. He was devoted to his wife, family and grandchildren and will be greatly missed by all of them

He is preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Vina and brother Walter Marshall.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Deann, of the home; children: Kathryn Burnett and husband Melvin of Cache, Jay Marshall of Lawton, and Melanie Shackelford and husband Gary of Paradise Valley; grandchildren: Jeree Brown and husband Grant, of Scottsdale, AZ, Kyle Burnett of Oklahoma City and Braeden Shackelford of Paradise Valley; great-grandchildren: Nathan and Ellie Brown, both of Scottsdale, AZ; brothers: Kenneth Marshall and wife Ida Mae of Glendora, CA and James Marshall and wife Joan of Fallon, NV. He also has numerous extended family members and friends
