George Robert English

George Robert English, Medicine Park, was born March 21, 1927 to James and Mary [Tabor] English. He died peacefully at his home on March 6, 2014 with his wife at his side. He was 86 years old.

George attended high school in Ryan, OK. When he was 17 years old he enlisted in the Navy and worked as a signalman. After his honorable discharge from the Navy, George returned to high school and graduated.

He was a farm boy his entire life until he went to college at Abilene Christian College, where he met his wife, Elsie Richardson. They were married on July 24, 1949. George worked in the aircraft industry until moving to Vermont in 1964, where he and Elsie worked in the ministry. In 1978 George and his family moved to Oklahoma where he owned a convenience store/service station. He went to work at Goodyear as an electrician until his retirement in 1989. After retirement, George got his Master's Certificate in auto repair. In his free time George enjoyed collecting coins, reading and working in his yard. He was active in his church where he taught bible class. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary English, a brother, James English and a grandson, David McMillan. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Elsie, of the home; son, George English and wife Frankie of Statesville, NC; daughter, Adele McMillan and husband Frank of Beaumont, TX; granddaughters, Laura Hedrick and husband Glen of Washington, DC and Stephanie Knop and husband, Gabriel of Hillsboro, NC; grandson, Joseph McMillan of OK; great-grandchildren, Violet Devona Knop and Corbin Fisher Knop of Hillsboro, NC.
