Irene Beulah [Botts] Trask

Irene Beulah [Botts] Trask, 106, of Bartlesville, passed away at 3:40 A. M. on Wednesday, April 9, 2014.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, April 11, 2014 in the Adams Boulevard Church of Christ with Mr. David Hammonds officiating. Interment will be in the Highland Cemetery at Lawton, Oklahoma on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 2:00 PM, under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.

A memorial has been established and those who wish to make a contribution in memory of Mrs. Trask may do so to World Bible School c/o Adams Blvd. Church of Christ 3700 SE Adams Blvd. Bartlesville, Oklahoma 74006.

Irene Beulah Trask was born January 2, 1908 in Walters, Oklahoma to Franklin and Effie P. [Murray] Botts.

She went to school at Lawton High School. She attended Cameron College for one year and Lawton Business College

Mrs. Trask was married to Lee Sturges. Lee Sturges preceded her in death. She was married to Bill Trask on July 3, 1949; he also preceded her in death.

Irene was member of Lawton Women's Forum, past president of American Legion Auxiliary, member of AARP; several quilt clubs, home extension, Cherokee Nation Club, Elder Care Council, World Bible School at Adams Blvd. Church of Christ for 8 years.

At 96 years old she participated in Senior Olympics where she won 40 gold medals. She participated in discus, shot put, javelin, arm curls, bench press, leg press, push- ups, set ups.

She also loved to square dance. Irene was an active member of the Adams Boulevard Church of Christ and helped with the Wednesday evening meals until two years ago. She lived a very active life and will be greatly missed.

Irene is survived by one son Jim Sturges and his wife Jan of Bartlesville; three grandchildren Libby Farrah, Bruce Sturges and Tracy Petrik; five great grandchildren; Wesley Sturges, Wade Sturges, Will Sturges, Matthew Petrik and Jennifer Whisenhunt; two great-great grandchildren Breanna Whisenhunt and Eli Sturges; nephew Gene Harris and his wife Sherran of Tulsa and niece Joann Williams and her husband Buddy of Jones, Oklahoma. Mrs. Trask is also survived by several great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son Dwain Sturges; a sister and three brothers. Friends who wish may sign the online guest book and leave condolences at www.stumpff.org.
