Cecil Ray Lee

Funeral service for Cecil Ray Lee, 78, Lawton, will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Sullivan Village Church of Christ with Rodger Schwenn, minister, and Bob Harrison, officiating.

Mr. Lee died Monday in a Lawton Hospital. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home.

He was born September 15, 1930 to Claude C. Lee and Stella F. Pindell Lee southwest of Lawton on the farm his grandfather, Walter Elzie Pindell, homesteaded.

His parents moved southeast of Lawton when he was four years old and he began his schooling at that young age at the Eureka School District #55. He graduated from Lawton High School in May of 1948, and was active in the FFA program raising Hampshire sheep, receiving the FFA Junior Master Farmer Award.

He married Dorthy Othella Howell on November 24, 1950 in the Midway Church of Christ, east of Lawton.

He was drafted into the United States Army in July 1954, serving until June 1956, stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado.

He worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 28 years as a letter carrier, then as an examination specialist for the Western District before retiring in 1990. He was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers. He has served on the Comanche County Post Adjudication Review Board for Juveniles, the board of directors for Camp LuJo Kismif and the board of directors of Comanche County Federal Credit Union.

He was a member of the Norman Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution through his ancestor James Lee who fought for American Independence in 1776, and is a descendant of John Alden who came to the new world on the Mayflower in 1620.

He was a charter member of the Sullivan Village Church of Christ where he served as a Deacon and later as an Elder for 22 years. He started the Bus Program early on and after work he visited the children on Saturday afternoon reminding them of the time the bus would be by on Sunday morning. He was an adult Bible class teacher for many years. In 1985, he accompanied a missionary from Lubbock Sunset School of Preaching to China. While in Taiwan, he preached at the church there with an interpreter at his side. He was a minister for the church.

He is survived by his wife, of the home; three sons and daughters in law, Lynn and Jeanie Lee, Chickasha, Timmy and Susan Lee, and James and Vickie Lee, all of Lawton; a daughter and son in law, Deborah and John Ernst, Lubbock, Texas; 15 grandchildren, Summer Beth Lee, Collin Nicole Lee, Corbin Seth Lee and Caitlyn Paige Lee, all of Chickasha; Cassi Krieger and husband Lane, Edmond; Tim Lee and wife Heather, Lawton; Demearia Jordan and husband Brian, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, Alison Michelle Ernst and Justin Lee Ernst, both of Lubbock, Texas, Amanda Dawn Leveille, Ashley Nicole Barfield, Brandon Lee, Amber Marie Lee, Steven Cameron and Ashley Nichole Shelton and husband Tim, all of Lawton; 13 great grandchildren, Lorelei Claire Krieger, Edmond, Joshua Ray Lee and Mark Wayne Lee, both of Lawton, Emma Renae Jordan and Adam Nathaniel Jordan, both of Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, Levi Lee Leveille, Kadin Juan Leveille, Alexis Nicole Leveille, Anthony Lyle Barfield, Jeremy Dale Carpenter, Stachia Tamia Lee, Felicity Paige Shelton and Gavin Bryce Shelton, all of Lawton; a brother and sister in law, Walter Loy and Judy Lee, Tahlequah, Oklahoma.

His parents and his father in law and mother in law, Lewis and Edith Howell, preceded him in death.
