Marcia [Goree] Brown

Marcia Brown, 64, was born December 2, 1949 in Bartlesville, OK to George Goree and Zoe Murl Branham. She died on December 25, 2013 at her home in Lawton.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 1, 2014 from 4-6pm at the funeral home. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at 11:00 am at True Love Apostolic Faith Church in Lawton, officiated by Pastor Joe Williams, Sr.

Burial will be at Highland Cemetery under direction of Whinery-Huddleston Funeral Service.

Marcia was born in Bartlesville and attended Frederick Douglass High School in Oklahoma City.

She was baptized in her youth at Progressive Baptist Church in Oklahoma City.

After high school she attended vocational school. She had extensive training in the dietary field. Marcia was employed as a dietician at the University Hospital in Oklahoma City and later at St. Anthony's Hospital in Oklahoma City. She moved to Lawton and began working for Crestview Nursing Home in 1997. In 2005, she transferred to Cedar Crest Manor where she worked until her death.

She loved to cook and feed others, listening to good music and had a passion for reading. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Logwood Branham and Elvira Branham-Broom.

Survivors include her parents; daughters, LuCrecia D. Roberson and husband, Patrick and LaToya M. Smith and husband, Mark; brother, Ira T. Ward; sister, Janice M. Jackson; grandchildren, Kiana Northern and husband, Michael, Christopher W. Roberson, Candice B. Roberson, Simone E. Smith and Mark A. Smith II; great-grandchildren, Sydney Ellis, Mariah Ellis, Christopher Northern, Elijah Chatman, Nathan Northern and Amaia Northern; nephews, Kevin Ward, Kellen Ward, Keenan Ward and Terrell Jackson; niece, Teresa Jackson. She also leaves behind a host of other loving relatives and friends.
