Darryl Patrick Cyr

June 07, 1939 - March 09, 2017

Darryl Patrick Cyr, age 77, of Lawton passed away Thursday, March 9, 2017 at Comanche County Memorial Hospital.
Patrick was born on June 7, 1939 in Caribou, Maine to Lucien and Laura (Dixon) Cyr. Darryl was an exceptionally intelligent and artistically talented man. He graduated from Caribou High School in 1957, before obtaining a degree from Cameron University in Drafting and Design. He would later go back to Cameron but as a teacher, where he taught night classes for a short while.
He was involved in music his whole life. As a child, he played the violin, played the piano and sang in the church choir. As a teenager, he had a band that he played the drums for and they played for the Saturday night dances. Later in his life, he began making exquisite violins and attended many musical shows.
Darryl enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country for over thirty-five years. He retired from his military career as a CW4, the last few years he was the Division Chief at the Meteorology Division, Target Acquisition Department of Fort Sill where he also taught meteorology. He served in the Vietnam War, the Korean War and was in Berlin when East Germany built the wall. Darryl received numerous medals, awards, diplomas and commendations during his military career, even being commissioned by the State of Kentucky as Colonel. He retired from the Army when he was fifty-six years old. At that time, he did a lot of woodwork, making intricate pieces such as furniture, grandfather clocks and even a piano.
Darryl also likes to work on computers, repairing them for friends and neighbors. He was always very generous in helping others learn how to use the computers, print pictures and much more.
Silke said, "Darryl was a brilliant and honorable person, a generous father and loving grandfather who helped everybody and could do anything. If he didn't know how to do something, he would simply buy a book, study it, until he could do it. He had an extraordinary knowledge of everything. I will miss him very much." This is what his friend Bob said about Darryl, "He was a very smart person and would help me do anything, when I asked for his help. I will miss him greatly."
Preceded in death by his parents, Lucien and Laura (Dixon) Cyr and one son, Rene D. Cyr, Darryl is survived by his wife of Thirty-four years, Brigitte Cyr; one son, Torsten Kilschautzky and wife Rachel; one daughter, Silke Kilschautzky; two grandchildren, Anastasia and Alexander; one sister, Nancy Flannery, one ex daughter-in-law, Siobhan DiNardo-Cyr; best friend, Bob Burton along with other relatives and close friends.
Graveside services for Darryl Patrick Cyr will be on Friday, March 16, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Fort Sill Post Cemetery.
