John Oliver Walker Jr

John Oliver Walker Jr was born July 1, 1949 in Parsons, Kansas to John and Maybelle [Journot] Walker. He died December 1, 2012 at a local hospital in Lawton, Oklahoma at the age of 63.

John was raised Parsons Kansas,and attended school in Altamont, Kansas.

Soon after graduating in 1968 from Altamont High School he was drafted into the US Army, in 1969 he found himself in the jungles of Vietnam. He reenlisted in the army and completed twenty-three years of service before he retired and claimed Lawton home. He was assigned to various state side post including assignments to Germany, he also took part in Desert Storm. His military awards include Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Achievement Medal 3rd award, Army Good Conduct Medal 5th award, National Defense Service Medal 2nd Award, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon 3rd award, Overseas Service Bars, Saudi Arabia Liberation of Kuwait Medal, Sharpshooter Qualification Rifle M-16.

In 1977, he was introduced to Brunhilde Strauch when he was stationed in Nuremburg, Germany, they were married on December 11, 1979.

After retiring from the army he went to work as an over the road truck driver. He was awarded the "Million Miller Award" for the million safe miles he drove. He had several hobbies the one's he is most noted for was his love for his dogs and the computer, being dubed "computer geek".

He is preceded in death by both parents, a brother, Jackie D Walker, two sisters, Patricia Hunt, and Mary Kay Walker, a grandson, William Horn.

Survivors include his Wife, Hilde Walker, of Lawton; three sons, Thomas Horn and wife Adaline, of Cache, Stefan Horn and Twyla, of Elgin, Bradley Walker and family, of Kansas; one grandchild, Casey Horn, Cache; one brother, James Walker and wife Teresa, Oswego, Kansas; three sisters, Sheryl Lundy an husband Larry, of El Dorado Springs, Missouri, Leeann Driggs and husband Gerald, of El Dorado Springs, Missouri, Jeannie Journot, of El Dorado Springs, Missouri. He also had many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He also had many extended family members and friends.
