Glen A. Poe

Glen A Poe was born June 16, 1951 in Lawton, Oklahoma to Opal [Dunford] and John Poe. He died at a local hospital with family and friends at his side on January 10, 2014 in Lawton, Oklahoma at the age of 62 years.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, January 16, 2014 in the Whinery-Huddleston Chapel. Private inurnment will be conducted at Fort Sill National Cemetery under the direction of Whinery-Huddleston Funeral Service.

He attended Lawton Public Schools as well as Douglas High School.

He entered the Army serving as a mortar man in the infantry. He was wounded in Vietnam and medically retired from the army.

He was a cook at Furr's Cafeteria. He had a great love for his family and served at the primary care giver for his mother until the day of her death.

He loved to go fishing; the only thing he liked more was eating the fish he caught. He enjoyed being outdoors; you could always find him walking.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Billie; both parents, John and Opal Poe; two brothers, Clifford Poe and John Poe; sister, Johnnie Mae Vaulx.

He is survived by his wife of fourteen years, Paula Poe, of the home; three sons, Glen Poe, Jr and his wife April, of Boise, ID, Robert Poe, of Long Beach, CA and Maurice Poe and his wife Danielle, Sioux City, IA; beloved daughters, Temperence Poe, of Long Beach, CA and Glenda Dowdle and her husband Jose, of Hawthorne, CA; step-daughter, Marcellia Hill, of Oklahoma City; step-son, Stephen Hill, of State College, PA; fifteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren; five brothers: Jimmy Poe, Terry Poe, Elmar Poe, Gregory Poe and his wife Patricia, all of Lawton, and Donald Lee Poe, of Killeen, TX; four sister: Mary Watson and her husband Donald, of Oklahoma City, Marilyn Gattison and her husband Norvell, of Elmore City, Betty Parr and her husband John, of Dyersburg, TN, and Gale Poe, of Lawton; a special friend, Jackie Hubbard, of Long Beach, CA.
