Larry Allen DuBois

CACHE Funeral for retired Staff Sgt. Larry Allen DuBois, 62, Cache, will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel.

Staff Sgt. DuBois died Tuesday, March, 25, 2008, at his home.

Burial with full military honors will be in Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin.

He was born June 27, 1945, in Toledo, Ohio, to Vance J. "Red" and June DuBois.

He grew up in Toledo and attended Rogers High School.

He enlisted in the Army in November 1963 and retired at Fort Hood, Texas, on Nov. 1, 1983, after more than 20 years. He was a veteran of Vietnam and had served tours of duty in Korea and Germany. His awards include the Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, NCO Professional Development Ribbon and the Expert Rifle Badge.

He married Susan DeCastro on Dec. 7, 1984, in Wichita Falls, Texas. She died July 22, 1988.

He married Nada Anderson on Oct. 17, 2007 at Wichita Falls.

He was a member of the American Legion and the Disabled Vietnam Veterans.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law: Michele and Danny Slane, Apache; and Dawn and Joseph Lanza, Lawton; three sons: John DuBois, Apache; Larry DuBois, Bixby; and Howard Keith Nelson, Lawton; three brothers: Donnie and Robert DuBois, and Ronnie Becker, all of Toledo, Ohio; seven grandchildren: Lance and Gavin DuBois, Gregory and Steven Duncan, Jarred and Jacob DuBois-Cunningham and Haley Nelson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Nancy Belle and Walter Bartley; and a special friend, Cameron Whatley.
