Friday, Feb. 20, 2015 Staff Sgt Dennis Jay Dryburg Funeral for retired Staff Sgt. Dennis Jay Dryburg, 72, Lawton, will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home Chapel with Ken Couch officiating. Mr. Dryburg passed away Friday, Feb. 20, 2015, in Lawton. Burial with full military honors will be at Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin. He was born May 16, 1942, in Somerset, Pa., to William and Elizabeth Dryburg. He enlisted in the Army October 1959. He retired March 1, 1980, at Fort Sill and worked civil service until his retirement in 2004. He married Rosemarie Ehmke Dryburg on Sept. 13, 1963, in Erlangen, Germany, and they had three children: Patrick Dryburg, Lawton; Heidi Campeau and husband Clay, Hailey, Idaho; and Tammy King and husband Toby, Irving, Texas. Dennis was stationed in Germany, Korea and Vietnam. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Ribbon, Army Commendation Medal with oak leaf cluster, Good Conduct Medal, Expert Badge Tank Gunnery, Expert Badge Machine Gun and Sharpshooter Rifle Badge. His hobbies were bowling, golf, working in his shop and being on Facebook. He was past master of Lawton Masonic Lodge No. 183, Associate Bethel Guardian of Job's Daughters and Chapter Dad for Demolay. Dennis volunteered at Southwestern Medical Center for numerous years. Dennis loved to lend a hand to anyone in need. He volunteered in Germany to drive the AYA bus for the children. He played Santa Claus every year for different community services and loved every minute. He never knew a stranger. If you were one he would always have a good joke for you to hear. He loved his wife for 51 wonderful years. He was the best "Pop" and "Dad" to all of his kids. Survivors include his wife, of the home; three children; four grandchildren; a great-grandson; a great-granddaughter; his brother, Barry Dryburg, Somerset, Pa.; and a sister, Mary Jane Hay, Galveston, Ind. He was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters. A special viewing and visitation for family and friends will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. |
