Spec Ryan Scott Michael Dallam

Army Spc. Dallam was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 18th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Schweinfurt, Germany.

Dallam died when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle during combat operations.

Ryan lived in Midwest City for a time after his parents divorced and he went with his mother when she went to teach on an American Indian reservation in Arizona.

He graduated in 2002 from Show Low High School and later attended Oklahoma City Community College.

Ryan talked with his father about joining the military before he did - he then became the third generation in his family to serve in the Army. His mother was shocked when he came to visit her after basic training. She couldn't get him to quit saying, "Yes ma'am." The Army agreed with Ryan - he liked the structure and his officers.

His unit deployed to Iraq in September and he was scheduled to come home on leave next week. Ryan frequently volunteered for night missions because nobody else wanted them - they were too dangerous.
