© Monday, December 22, 2009 Clifford Don Chebahtah Jr He was born on 16 December 1942 and died on 21 December 2009. Don was a resident of Riverside for 38 years, before returning home to Oklahoma one year ago. He was employed by Pacific Bell Telephone in Riverside for over 30 years. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sandra, of Anadarko, OK. His son Christopher Chebahtah (Michele) of California City, CA, Jeffery Chebahtah (Heidi) of Riverside, CA, David Chebahtah (Cassandra) of Ft. Eustis, VA and Patrick Chebahtah (Elizabeth) of Edinburgh, Scotland. Don had 5 grandsons Justin, Jacob, Russell, Adam, James and 3 granddaughters Sara, Jennifer, and Kylie. Also survived by sisters Neenah and Ruth Chebahtah of Anadarko OK, Ramona Alamanza of Indiahoma, OK, Uncles Raymond Alamanza of Cache, OK and William "Bill" Chebahtah of San Antonio, TX. Don who was the son of Clifford and Betty Ann Chebahtah of Anadarko, was a member of the Comanche Nation, and descendent of the Lipan Apache, Delaware and Métis Nations. He was a direct descendent of Chief Wild Horse, Grand nephew of Quanah Parker and, direct descendent of "Chebahtah" aka, "Chevato, "Billy Chevat" renowned medicine man. A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1960-1968 and USMCR from 1969-1981 attaining the rank of Gunnery Sergeant, receiving several awards including: Purple heart, Presidential Unit Citation, Navy Unit Citation, Combat Action Ribbon, USMC God conduct Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Viet Nam Service Medal with 2 Battle stars, Viet Nam Campaign. His past hobbies included cross country coaching for the youth, and Football Coach for the Riverside Junior Tackle Football League. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, December 28, 2009, at 10:00 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Anadarko, OK, with burial immediately following at the Ft. Sill National Cemetery. |
