Walter J. Gussie

May 07, 1929 - April 26, 2018

Walter J. Gussie, age 88, of Lawton passed away Thursday, April 26, 2018.
Walter was born on May 7, 1929 in Mather, Pennsylvania to John and Agnus (Perkowski) Gussie. He enlisted in the United States Army where he proudly served his country for twenty-three years. While in the Army, Walter received several awards, medals and commendations and served during both the Korean War and Vietnam War. He married Doris Rieniets in 1952 in Germany where they both were in the military. He was a longtime member of the VFW 5263 and former Commander. He loved sports and was a proud soldier.
Preceded in death by his parents, John and Agnus Gussie and two brothers, Sonny and Thomas, Walter is survived by his son, John W. Gussie; his daughter, Carol Jackson and husband Lance; grandson, Jarrod Theesen and wife Crystal and great grandsons, Brayden and Tanner Theesen along with numerous friends from the VFW. He will be greatly missed.
