James Edward Davis

August 19, 1935 ~ November 14, 2017

James Edward Davis, age 82, was born on August 18, 1935, in Wetumka, Oklahoma, and passed away on November14, 2017, in Oklahoma City. Services will be officiated by Pastor Darrell Edwards on November 17, 2017 at Fort Sill National Cemetery. Internment with military honors will follow.
James attended Warren schools and graduated with the class of 1954. Immediately after graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he served tours of duty in Germany, Austria, Belgium, Korea, and Vietnam. He also taught military science at Eastern New Mexico University. After retiring from the military in 1974, James was employed by the New Mexico Highway Patrol in Clovis before moving back to Oklahoma to be closer to family. His last positions were with the Army Corps of Engineers in Fort Smith, Arkansas, and at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.
James was married on November 5, 1954, to Alma Louise Waller, until her death in 2012. To the union were born three children. Then, on March 19, 2013, he and Jannette Pujols were married in Lawton.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Lola Mae Stuckey and Vernie Davis; his first wife, Alma; brother Gene Davis; granddaughter, Desiree Davis; and Craig Petersin, son-in-law.
Survivors include his wife, Jannette, of the home; children, Elise (Randy) Ellis and Linda Petersin, all of Guthrie and Jimmy (Jana) Davis of Yukon. Step-children are Daniel Moreira, Lawton, David Moreira, South Korea, Gabriel (Darby Wright) Moreira and Camila Moreira, both of Oklahoma City; and brothers Mac (Nina) Davis, Blair; and Dick (Kay) Davis, Cashion. Grandchildren are Johnnie Petersin (Cheri) Albuquerque; Jamie Brown (Michael), Laverne, Tennessee; Elizabeth Skelton (Clint), Fayettville, Arkansas, Jameson Davis (Summer) and Jance Davis, both of Yukon. Great-grandchildren are Garrett, Jesi, and J.T. Petersin, Michaela and Alayna Brown, Kayley Hellams, Colton Skelton and Atlas Wright.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in James' memory to the Disabled American Veterans, with the funeral home as custodian.
