Glenn Edward Unsell

Glenn Edward "Pete" Unsell was born on August 19, 1916 in Cache, OK to Harry and Marville [Worley] Unsell. He died on April 7, 2013 in Lawton, OK at the age of 96.

Mr. Unsell was raised and attended school in Cache, OK.

Pete was a hard worker all his life - jobs included the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930's and the rodeo circuit with stops to include the Madison Square Garden and The Boston Garden.

Pete Unsell and Juanita Jones met in Amarillo, Texas and were married on September 14, 1942 in Phoenix, AZ.In May of 1942 he enlisted in the Army Air Corps. He was stationed in Phoenix, Arizona as a flight simulation instructor. He retired at the end of WWII and left the military as a Sergeant after receiving the Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal, and the American Theatre Service Medal.

Pete and Juanita settled in Cache after the war where he worked with the civil service for over 30 years as a heavy equipment operator. He retired in 1971 from the government and afterwards delivered furniture for Montgomery-Wards and finally retired to enjoy his family and Juanita's cooking on a full time basis in1978.

Pete was active in the Masonic Lodge and Shriners for many years, and continued recognizing their values and importance even after Juanita became ill and required more of his time for her care. Pete was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Juanita, his parents, 2 brothers and a sister. Survivors include a son, Emmitt D. Unsell of Lawton; 2 grandchildren, Sheryl Cramer and husband John of Lawton, and Evan Unsell and wife Martha in North Carolina; 4 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
