Final tribute is James Robert Rogers, pioneer Coal County farmer for 60 years, were held at the First Baptist Church in Coalgate at 2 o'clock Tuesdays afternoon.

The Rev. Vernal West, pastor, conducted the services.

Born November 17, 1881 in Hunt County, Texas the retored farmer came to Coal county at the turn of the century. He was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church at Pine. After an illness of about two years, he died in Mary Hurley hospital June 5, at the age of 78 years.

Surviving are his wife, Elsie Rogers, of Coalgate; ten children, Berl Rogers, Raymond Rogers and L.B. Rogers of Coalgate; Lois Mankin, San Jose, Calif.; Hazel Pendley, Santa Clara, Calif.,Etoyle Jackson and Ernestine Palmer, Coalgate; one brother, John Rogers of Albuquerque, N.M. one half-brother, Frank McBride, Wetumka; one siser, Mrs. Oma Mitchell, Hemot, Calif.; 36 grandchildren, and 33 great grandchildren. Two children, and infant daughter, Lottie Rogers; and Mrs. Ora Belle Brown preceded the father in death.

Burial was at Pine cemetery with Slater funeral home directing

J. R. Rogers, longtime Coal County rancher and farmer, died at 9:10 a.m. Sunday in a local hospital. He had been in failing health two years, suffering from a heart condition.

Born in Greensborough, Tex., November 17, 1881, Mr. Rogers came to Coal County 60 year ago. He was a member of the Baptist Church.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Baptist Church with Rev. Verner West officiating. Grandsons will bearers. Burial will be in Pine Cemetery, Slater's will be directing the services.

Two children, an infant daughter, Lottie Rogers; and Mrs. Ora Belle Brown preceded the father in death.
