Funeral services for "W.M. Baskett, Jr., a longtime Coal County resident, were held Saturday, December 17, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Brown's Funeral Chapel in Coalgate with Bro. Bob Graham officiating. burial was in Moore Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Brown's Funeral Service of Coalgate.

Mr. Baskett was born July 17, 1921 in Clarita, OK to William M. and Minnie Bird (Bates) Baskett and passed away December 15, 2011 at his home in Clarita at athe age of 90. He attended Clarita schools and married Ettie Lour Lawrence on August 25, 1939 in Clarita, OK. W.M. was a farmer and rancher, a WW II veteran and of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Etta Lou Baskett of Clarita; children, Betty Lou Ward of Jenks, OK, Larry Baskett and wife Jean of Norman, and Ken Baskett and wife Bernice of Sapulpa; grandchildren, Lisa Hall, Brian Ward, Amy Greer, Mindy Fox, Jason Baskett and Shelly Baskett; ten great grandchildren; along with numerous other relatives and special friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers; six sisters and son-in-law, Burney Ward.

Pallbearers were Jason Baskett, Brian Ward, Jay Hall, J. P. Fox, Cameron Greer and James Greer. Honorary bearers were Doyle Nelson, Edgar Collins, Roy Campbell, Ted Hartsfield, Bill Hefley and Charles Thompson.
