Grover Lee Woods

Grover Lee Woods, 85, of Amarillo died Friday, Jan. 11, 2002.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St., with the Rev. O.R. Looper of Aubrey officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery.
Mr. Woods was born in Coal County, Indian Territory, Nov. 18, 1916, but grew up near Melrose, N.M. He returned to Oklahoma at age 14 and lived with his uncle Dick and aunt Will Woods.
He married Jewell Craft in Tishomingo, Okla., on Dec. 7, 1935. They moved to New Mexico and purchased a farm between Melrose and House and reared a family. He and his wife and daughter lived in Halfway for seven years then moved to Dalhart where he resided for 32 years.
He was a member of Lincoln Baptist Church in Dalhart. Upon retirement, he and his wife moved to Amarillo.
His love for farming prevailed throughout his life.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Colleen Daily of Amarillo and Betty Mowery of Atlanta; a son, Jerry D. Woods of Canyon; four sisters, Zell Stone, Helen Henry, Lou Ellen Henson and Patsy Magrin, all of Tulsa, Okla.; two brothers, Rev. John Woods of Tulsa and Stanley G. Woods of Sargent; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
