DALLAS - Ruth Maxey Gibson, 95, died Wednesday, April 24, 2002.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Memorial Park Cemetery in Amarillo with Dr. Chester Beavers officiating.
Arrangements are by Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home.
Mrs. Gibson was born Jan. 6, 1907, in Coalgate, Okla., to Thomas Freeman Maxey and Lulu Evelyn East Maxey. She was orphaned at age 2 and was raised by her adored grandmother, Sara Maxey in Durant, Okla.
She married William Willard Gibson on Dec. 1, 1925. She was a longtime resident of Amarillo, moving to Houston in 1972 to be closer to her sister. She then moved to Dallas in 1989 and at the time of her death was a resident of Walnut Place Nursing Home.
She was preceded in death by her husband on April 3, 1970; a sister, Blanche Cline; and a niece, Sara Cline Fincher.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Sue Morris of Antigua, Guatemala, and Puerta Vallerta, Mexico; a son, Michael Gibson and wife, Nancy, of Dallas; three nephews, John Victor Cline and Harold Fincher, both of Houston, and Gerald Gibson of Halleyville, Okla.; and two great-nieces, Kay Fincher of Costa Rica and Burton and Carol Rodabuagh of Houston.
