Funeral services for E. C. Martin, a longtime Coal County resident, were held Monday, July 25,2011 at Brown's Funeral Chapel at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Walter Kuhlman and Gary Martin officiating. Burial was in Coalgate Cemetery with Brown's Funeral Service in Coalgate in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Martin was born January 30, 1931 in Clarita area to Clarence H. "C.H." & Edith (Shockey) Martin and passed away July 22, 2011 in Ardmore at the age of 80. He married Emma Jean Young on June 20, 1953 in Coalgate. She preceded him in death in 2003. Mr. Martin attended Leader school, worked for the Oklahoma State Department of Transportation for 33 years and retired as the county supervisor for the highway department. He was also a rancher for many years, was a musician and had a lifelong passion for music and dancing. Mr. Martin also broke horses as a youngster and like to hunt and ranch. He was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith.

Survivors include his children, Linda Sizemore of Coalgate, Gary Martin of Coalgate and Tisha Martin of Ada; one grandchild, Zachary Sizemore of Oklahoma City; brothers, Wayne Martin and Gloria, Spencer Martin, and Carl Martin all of Tupelo; sisters, Edith Jones of Centrahoma and Charlene Holder and Bob of Tupelo; special friend, Lola Foskett of Coalgate; extended family, Angie and Jake Allen, Britney Teel all of Ada, Taylor McCoy of Coalgate and Shelby Austin of Durant; along with numerous other relatives and many dear and loved friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; granddaughter, Shavon Sizemore; and brothers, John Charles Martin, Jack Martin and David Martin.

Casketbearers were Olen Bridges, Hank Bridges, Dan Burns, Roy Deck, Alvin Pebworth, Billy Clyde Jones and Paul Jones. Honorary bearers were Terry Martin, David Battles and Don Stevens.
