Funeral services for Mary "Dumpy" Lee (Kirkland) Cox, a resident of Lawton, former resident of Coal County, were held Friday, October 21, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at Brown's Funeral Chapel in Coalgate with Mr. Arvel Hall officiating. Burial was in Coalgate Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Brown's Funeral Service of Coalgate.

Mrs. Cox was born October 25, 1925 in Cottonwood, OK to Oscar and Nora (Ruth) Kirkland and passed away October 17, 2011 in Lawton, OK at the age of 85. She attended Cottonwood School, married Walter Franklin Cox on October 26, 1946 in Coalgate and was a homemaker. Mrs. Cox was preceded in death by her husband on September 10, 1991.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three children, Walter Lynn Cox, Sherry Cox and Shirley Cox; one sister, Betty (Kirkland) Coffee and one brother, Eugene Kirkland.

Pallbearers were Thomas Fritz, John Fritz, Johnny Wayne Fritz, and Flynn Rhodes. Honorary bearers were Willie Fitch, Jimmy L. Cox, Jr., Chris Cox, and Jerome Noll.
