Funeral services for Rena (Cosner) Cometti, a longtime Coalgate resident, were held Monday, September 21, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Brown's Funeral Chapel in Coalgate with Rev. David Unsell officiating. Burial was in Coalgate Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Brown's Funeral Service of Coalgate.

Mrs. Cometti was born October 13, 1914 in Mineral, KS to John and Madelina (DeBertolli) Cosner and passed away September 17, 2009 at her home in Cottonwood, OK at the age of 94. She attended school in Krebs and West Mineral, KS and married Willie Cometti on June 12, 1937. He preceded her in death on May 18, 1990. Mrs. Cometti was a homemaker, was a member of the Oklahoma Home Community Education, (Cairo Club) for 15 years; Election Board Clerk for more than 40 years; served on the Fair Barn Board for approximately 14 years and was a manor volunteer for several years. She was baptized in the Catholic Church.

Those left to cherish her memories are: children, Charles William Cometti and wife Sybel, Barbara Ann Hefley and husband Perry, David Eugene Cometti and wife Sharon, Frank Cometti and wife Virginia, Larry Cometti and wife Bonnie and Debra Kay Childers and husband Richie all of Coalgate, OK; twelve grandchildren, Chuck Cometti and wife Debbie of Roswell, NM, Sherry Cometti Duran of Durango, CO, Doug Cometti and wife Melissa of Hatch, NM, Donna Williams, Dyanna Price, Kelly Smith and husband Gordon, Chad Cometti and wife Sherri, Ashley Cometti Anderson and husband Ronnie, Stacy Cometti, all of Coalgate, Joy Cometti Rose and husband Craig of Princeton, TX, Justin Childers and wife Andrea and Jodi Childers Lackey and husband Chad all of Coalgate; twenty-one great grandchildren; two nieces, Margaret Ridley and husband Wayne of Tulsa, OK, and Betty Becker and husband Ernie of West Mineral, KS; five nephews, Richard Calso, Jerry Calso,and families of Detroit, MI, and Norvin Robson, Randy Robson, Ricky Robson and families of Coalgate; Care Givers, Cindy Williams of Durant, OK and Regina Roberson of Boswell, OK; numerous cousins and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Cometti; grandson, Robert Darrel Courson; mother Madelina DeBertolli Cosner; father John Cosner; sisters, Ellen Calso and Gemma Marcari; uncle Robert Cosner; and aunt Lena Cosner.

Pallbearers were Bob Cody, Nick Lolli, James Elkins, Eddie Anglin, Gary Coffee and Vince Haney. Honorary bearers were Lela Scott, Sue Tillery, Jacqueline Helms, Nelda Ferrero, Barbara Elkins, Juanita Morris, Meka Overstreet and Lena Patterson.
