Funeral services for Jeanivee Quintella "Jackson" Walker Carter, formerly of Atoka, an Olney & Cottonwood resident were held Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Cottonwood Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Weathers officiating. Burial was in the Coalgate Cemetery under the direction of Brown's Funeral Service of Coalgate.
Ms. Carter was born November 21, 1920 in Atoka, Oklahoma to Fulsom Chelsea and Mattie Bell "Mead" Jackson and passed away July 26, 2009 in Oklahoma City at the age of 88. She attended school at Atoka, graduating in 1938 and married Carl Walker in 1938 in Atoka. She later married Ernest E. Carter in 1955 in Oklahoma City. Ms. Carter worked as a phone operator for Southwestern Bell in Atoka, was a homemaker and housewife. She was a longtime member of the Cottonwood Baptist Church, the Eastern Star and Cottonwood Home Demonstration Club and loved cooking, canning vegetables and taking care of grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Virginia "Gennie Bell" Vietta of Durant, OK and Sue Ann Humphrey of Stuart, OK; grandchildren, John E. Vietta and wife Debbie of Durant, OK, James Vietta of Dallas, TX, Heath Davidson and wife Jeanne of Coalgate, Greg Davidson and Krystal of Tushka, Jaila Humphrey, Seth Humphrey both of Stuart, OK, Brad Carter and wife Sherry and David Carter and wife Jamie, all of Seminole, OK; grandchildren, John Michael Vietta, Jacob Logan Vietta, both of Durant, OK, Kandence Drinnon of Stuart, Hunter, Briar and Rainey Davidson of Coagate; daughter-in-law Kathy Carter of Seminole, OK; along with other relatives and many dear and loved friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ernest E. Carter, grandson Jeff Vietta; step-son Ernest Mac Carter; brothers, Lamar Jackson, Lloyd Jackson, Hayden Jackson and James Jackson; sister, Virginia Phillips adn three infant sisters.
Casketbearers were grandsons: John Vietta, James Vietta, Heath Davidson, Greg Davidson, Seth Humphrey, Brad Carter and David Carter. Honorary casketbearers wer Nick Lolli, Johnny Bellettini, Don Walker and Bill King.
