Funeral services for Joy Ann (Corsini) Avanzini, a Coalgate resident, were held Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Coalgate with Father Higgins officiating. Burial was in Coalgate Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Brown's Funeral Service of Coalgate. Rosary was Monday night, December 28 at 7:00 p.m.

Mrs. Avanzini was born August 13, 1934 at Sherman, Texas to Nondo "Smiley" Corsini and Lucy "Forneris" Corsini and passed away December 26, 2009 in Coalgate at the age of 75. She graduated from Coalgate High School in 1952 and also attended OK College for Women. On June 3, 1954 she married Bill Avanzini at the Coalgate Blessed Sacrament Church. Mrs Avanzini worked in the Court Clerk's office, was a homemaker and a longtime member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Coalgate.

Survivors include her husband Bill Avanzini of the home in Coalgate; sons, Joe Avanzini and wife Phyllis of Coalgate and Jim Avanzini and wife Gayla of Scottsdale, AZ; daughter, Ann Palmer and husband Tammy of Coalgate; grandchildren, Luke Palmer, Luci Palmer, Jennifer Avanzini, Jerry Yort, Melanie and husband Mark Hart and children Faith, Hope and Trinity; brother, Tony Corsini and wife Norma of Coalgate; along with nieces, nephews, and numerous other relatives and many dear and loved friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nondo "Smiley" Corsini and Lucy Forneris Corsini.

Casketbearers were Nick Lolli, Tom Corsini, Mickey Palmer, Ed Denny, Tanner Corsini, Barrett Corsini, and Verdell Clark. Honorary bearers were Pat Ferrero, Gladys Hickerson, Murl Ward, Gerri Watkins, Laura Juen Gerhards.

Donations in Joy's memory may be made to Coalgate Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund.
