Graveside services were held at Centrahoma Cemetery for a former resident, Viola Mae Yates who passed away at Moore, OK, August 21, 2010 with Leukemia at the age of 86. She was born June 5, 1924 to Jane Byrd Clanton and Thomas Estel Clanton. Mrs. Yates spent most of her young life on a farm in the Pine Community. She attended Pine and Rock Creek Schools until her family moved to Centrahoma in 1939. She attended school there where she met and married Hubert Lee Fields. Hubert was drafted into the army before their only child, Carl Edward Fields, was born May 20, 1943. Hubert was killed in action on D-Day during the Normandy invasion off the coast of Northern France. He is buried in the Normandy American Cemetery located on a cliff overlooking the invasion sight of Omaha Beach.

She later married Robert Savage who was a good father to her young son. She was widowed a second time Robert died in 1960. Later she married Roy Yates, who died a few years later of diabetes. In 2003, Viola moved to Moore, OK to be near her sister, Violet Lee Boyd.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, her sister, Ida Bell Clanton, grandparents and several uncles, aunts, cousins and her dedicatd nephew and caretaker, Curtis Yates.

She leaves behind her son, Carl and his wife JoAnn, grandchildren and great grandchildren of Grants Pass, OR; her sister, Violet: niece Carol Ann Boyd and husband James; her nephew Ronald Boyd, Pat Shipley; two step sons, Richard Yates and Roy Yates, Jr. and her friend Robert Everett.

Burial was at Centrahoma Cemetery next to her parents and little sister
