Louis Howard, age 65, longtime resident of Norman, Oklahoma, was called home by our Lord on Sunday, March 17, 2013 in Norman.  He was born April 18, 1947 at his grandmother’s home in Elbowoods, North Dakota to Franklin and Pearl (Felix) Howard.

Louis was first and foremost a loving husband and beloved father and grandfather.  Caring for his family was important to Louis.  He adored his daughter Dana and his beloved grandchildren, Robert, Meredith and Caroline, who Louis called “Scout” and they will miss him deeply.

Survivors include his wife, Candace Howard of 32 years; daughter, Dana Davis and her husband, Robert of Norman; three grandchildren, Robert, Meredith, and Caroline of Norman; four brothers, Sidney Howard, Wade Howard, Dana Howard, and Olin Howard of Garrison, North Dakota; two sisters, Yvonne (Howard) Fox and Anita Howard of Whiteshield, North Dakota; and numerous nieces and nephews and additional family and many friends.

Louis was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Oscar Howard and Frank Howard of Garrison, North Dakota.

The Howard family wishes to extend a special thank you to the doctors and nurses and the many other staff members at the Norman Regional Intensive Care Unit for their professionalism and tireless care given to Louis for the time he was in their care.

Visitation will be held 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 20, 2013 with family receiving friends between 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.  Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 21, 2013 in the Chapel of Havenbrook Funeral Home, 3401 Havenbrook Street in Norman.
