Lorene (White) Haynes, 94, of Norman passed away surrounded by her family on Thursday, April 24, 2014. 

She was born in Clarita, Oklahoma September 30, 1919 to William Matson “Pete” and Ruby (Julian) White.   Lorene was married to Charles Haynes for fifty-four years and they raised three children.

Lorene received a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of Oklahoma.  She worked as a music teacher for McKinley and Jefferson Public Schools in Norman for fourteen years.  Lorene loved music and was a part of the First Christian Church’s choir and was director of the children’s carol choir for many years.  She enjoyed spending time with her family, playing the piano, entertaining, needlepoint, watching old movies, and traveling with Charles to OU football games.  Lorene was a member of New Hope Demonstration Club, Beta Sigma Phi, Christian Women’s Fellowship and PEO.  She was very patriotic and was a member of the Daughters of American Revolution and treasurer for 30 years.  Lorene and her mother, Ruby, joined DAR in 1966.
 
Lorene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles Haynes; her brother, Walter White; and three sisters, Vernice Lochner, Peggy Marsee and Alice Daniel. 

She is survived by her son, Mick Haynes and wife Carol of Norman; her two daughters, Sherri Haynes of Norman and Donna Thompson and husband Julian of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; her five grandchildren, Chad Haynes, Jayson Haynes and wife Sharon, Megan Sherrer and husband Andy, Monica Minadeo-Cook, and Julia Thompson; and her six great grandchildren, Max Cook, Carly Jane Cook, Sheridan Sherrer, Jackson Sherrer, Brooke Haynes and Della Haynes.

Visitation for Lorene will be from 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Sunday, April 27, 2014 and 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., Monday, April 28, 2014 with family receiving friends 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the Havenbrook Funeral Home in Norman, 3401 Havenbrook Street in Norman. 

Funeral Services will begin at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at the First Christian Church, 220 S. Webster in Norman, Reverend David Spain officiating with interment following at the Warren Cemetery in Norman.
