Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Agatha Lee (Jansing) Schader, age 90, a lifelong resident of Norman will begin at 10:30am Saturday, September 20, 2014 in the St. Joseph Catholic Church, 211 North Porter in Norman.  A Vigil Prayer service will begin at 6:00 p.m. Friday, September 19, 2014 in the Chapel of the Havenbrook Funeral Home, 3401 Havenbrook Street.  Following the Vigil Prayer service, the Schader family will host a reception for friends in the Havenbrook Event Center.

Agatha was born July 30, 1924 the daughter of George Lawernce, Sr. and Ella Nora (Higdon) Jansing.  She passed away Tuesday evening, September 16, 2014, in the comfort of her home surrounded by her children.

Agatha was reared in Norman attending the St. Joseph Catholic Schools, graduating from St. Joseph Catholic High School in 1942. She was united in marriage to Mr. Edward Paul Schader on August 14, 1943 in Norman.  Agatha and Eddie owned and operated Deluxe Cleaners on Gray Street for 35 years before retiring in 1980.

Agatha was a simple lady always putting others first.  She preferred to remain behind the scenes while making sure the needs of those less fortunate were met.  She was an outstanding cook, seamstress, and enjoyed tap dancing, western line dancing, square dancing and participating in weekly bowling leagues.  Her greatest love was being the wife of Eddie Schader for 54 ½ years before his death on February 23, 1998.  Agatha’s best accomplishments were being the mother to her six children, her four grandchildren, and her two great grandchildren.  Agatha was a devout Catholic being a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church for more than 90 years, actively participating in the St. Joseph’s Women’s Club and St. Theresa’s Guild.  We will miss her gentle sweet spirit but give thanks to God for her life and the many blessings granted her.  A special thank you to Dr. John Krodel and Liz and to the McCortney Family Hospice caregivers.

She is survived by her son, George Schader of Norman; three daughters, Janice (Schader) Kahoe and her husband John of Norman, Paula Schader of Norman, and Lee Ann (Schader) Thompson and her husband Mark of Owasso; four grandchildren, Sean Kahoe and his wife Niki of Kansas City, MO, Todd Kahoe and his wife Samantha of Norman, Kristin Cantrell and her husband Brad of Tulsa, and Kaylin Thompson of Oklahoma City; two great grandchildren, Maddie and T.J. Kahoe of Kansas City, MO; two sisters, Adaline Meiser and Kathryn LeBlanc and her husband Bob; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to her husband, Agatha was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, James Lawernce Schader in 1953 and Edward Paul Schader, Jr. in 1966; two brothers, James Jansing and his wife Loyce and George L. Jansing, Jr. and his wife Frances; and one brother-in-law, Bernard Meiser.

Agatha will be laid to rest in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery of Norman.  Memorials may be made in memory of Agatha to the charity of your choice.

Arrangements for Agatha and her family were placed in the care of the Vice family at the Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman. Online condolences may be shared at www.HavenbrookFuneralHome.com.
