John Marvin Ross was born November 19, 1932 to Lester and Mildred Ross in Boone, Iowa. He died October 20, 2007 from a 4 year illness at the Odyssey Health Care in Conroe, Texas at the age of 74 years. Services will be Friday, October 26, 2007, at 1:00 p.m. at Wadleys Funeral Service, Purcell, Oklahoma with Buck Jordan officiating and burial to follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Norman, Oklahoma.

John has lived in Texas for the past 22 years, coming from Purcell, Oklahoma. He was raised and attended school in Boone, Iowa. He attended the University of Oklahoma. On August 16, 1986, John and Shirley Snow were united in marriage in Purcell.

John retired from the United States Army in 1971. He worked for the Veterans Hospital, Purcell Hospital, Claremore Indian Hospital, the Oklahoma Department of Corrections and Texas Department of Corrections as a Physician Assistant. John retired from the UTMB August 2003. He was a member of the Cold Springs Church of Christ in Texas and a member of the AAPA. He enjoyed fishing, bowling and working the Emergency Room care for sick children.

John was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Pam; and granddaughter, Chelsea.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley of the home ; sons, Jerry Ross and Michelle of Midwest City and Johnny Spor of Texas; daughters, Jennifer Echard and Darrell of Vernon, CT, Lori Dupzauler and Tony of Lake Jackson, TX, and Annette Walter and John of Farmington, MN; brothers, Charles Michel and Marianne, Floyd Michel and Karen, Steve Michel and Linda and Jerry Michel and Debbie all of Boone, Iowa; sisters, Charlene Braland and Arnold of Boone, IA, Judy Frist and Mike of Boone, Iowa and Vickie Watloff and Don of Kearney, Missouri; grandchildren, Brian, Christopher, Daniel, Nikki, Alex, Katrina, Jessica, Victoria, Courtney, Dillon, Zane, Shaun, Tara and Sara; great- grandchildren, Rebecca and Kevin; and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss him greatly.
