James Edward Marcott

Marcott, James Edward “Granddad”, 79, passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2012 in Norman, Oklahoma. 

He was born November 22, 1932 in Purcell, Oklahoma to Joseph and Leona (Jones) Marcott.  James was united in marriage on December 21, 1951 in Oklahoma City to Yvonnie Jean Johnson.

James served in the Army Active Reserves for six years and was a professional Engineer for OG&E retiring in 1994, after forty-four years of service.

James was known for his love and obedience to God and his genuine love of his fellowman.  His living example of bearing one another's burden, his wisdom and gentleness but firm teachings of turning from evil and doing right, will live on in his families lives and those lives he touched.  James enjoyed reading his Bible, working on cars, and gardening.  He never missed a sporting or musical event that his children and grandchildren were involved in.

James is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jean Marcott; daughter, Peggy Mitchell and husband John; sons, Steve Marcott and wife Nan and Marvin Marcott and wife Nicole; brother, Donald Marcott and wife Mamie; grandchildren, James Miller and wife Tracy, Andy Miller, Amanda Thottunkl and husband Vinay, Jacob Marcott, Melinda Marcott, Max Marcott, Molly Marcott, Todd Marcott and Brett Marcott and wife Jiwon; great granddaughters, Jenna Miller and Lindsey Miller; and many other relatives and friends.

Services will be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 11, 2012 at the Westside Church of Christ, 726 McGee, Norman with interment following at Resthaven Memory Gardens in OKC.   

Memorial donations may be made to Hope Harbor Children's Home, P . O. Box         1047, Claremore, Oklahoma, 74018.  Arrangements for James and his family were placed in the care of the Vice family at the Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman.
