Rickey Harold Johnson was born November 4, 1954, in Newport, Arkansas, and passed away on February 15, 2015, at the age of 60, in Moore, Oklahoma.

Rick was raised and went to school in the area of Newport/Grubbs, Arkansas; and after graduation, served a term in the U.S. Navy. During that period of time, he married Shelby Davis and they had one son, Rickey Harold (JR) Johnson, Jr.  After his service in the Navy, he started driving cross country, which turned out to be one of his life’s passions, and continued to drive for different companies up until his health forced him to retire.  While working for Consolidated Freightway, in 1989, Rick moved to OKC where he met and married Jacinda Dye-Johnson in 1990. Of the marriage were born two children, Talonne Sahara Chardeau Johnson, 17; Mylan Hyhill Johnson, 12; and Rick adopted Paris Whitney Johnson, 28, on August 7, 2000.  Rick was a devoted husband, father and papa. And although he wasn’t an avid sports fan, he enjoyed attending his children and grandchildren’s sports activities and cheering them on. Though the last few years his illness had slowed Rick down, you could catch him in his “Man Cave” reading his books and playing with his granddaughter, Rowyn Avery Douglas, 3.  When possible, Rick loved to travel to Baytown to visit his son JR, daughter-in-law Candace, and his oldest grandchildren, Brooke Leanne, 19; Mason Tate, 17; and Kayla Marie, 12.

Rick is survived by his wife, Jacinda Dye-Johnson of Moore, Oklahoma; four children, JR Johnson (and wife, Candace) of Baytown, Texas; Paris Johnson of Norman, Oklahoma; Talonne Johnson and Mylan Johnson of the home; and four grandchildren, Brooke, Mason, Kayla, and Rowyn.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6:00– 8:00. The service to celebrate Rick’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday in the Chapel of Resthaven Funeral Home with burial to follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens.
