June Carol Cox was born April 15, 1933, in Youngstown, Ohio, to Fred and Helen Liggett and was surrounded by her family when she went to meet her Lord on Sunday, July 15, 2012, at the young age of 79. While June was in high school, her family moved from Ohio to San Juan Capistrano, Calif., where they opened a local malt shop. While attending high school, June worked at the family malt shop and later worked as a bookkeeper for Bank of America in San Juan Capistrano, where she later graduated from high school. While attending high school, June worked at the family malt shop and later worked as a bookkeeper for Bank of America in San Juan Capistrano, where she later graduated from high school. June married Bobby Cox Dec. 8, 1956, in Santa Ana, Calif. They later moved to Oklahoma. For the past several years, June was a resident of the Okeene community. She recently moved to Enid, Okla. While living in Okeene, June worked as a bookkeeper at Trigg Snyder Chevrolet and Krause and Associates. She then opened “June’s Daycare,” where she provided daycare for numerous families in the Okeene area. She actively followed the lives of many of these children through high school and beyond. June was always thrilled from a special hug from many of these children.

June was preceded in death by both parents; a son, Larry; her husband, Bob; and a sister, Bernice Conroy.

She is survived by her loving family: Daughters, Cheryl Eldridge of Oklahoma City, Lynn Brickman and husband Bret of Enid, and Alicia McKee of Sitka, Alaska. June also is survived by a sister, Doris Armstrong of El Toro, Calif.; grandsons Justin Brickman and wife Annie of Okeene, Tyler Brickman of Kingfisher, Reese Brickman and fiancee Casey Parker of Oklahoma City, Ryan Brickman of Okeene, and Caleb McKee of Annandale, N.J.; granddaughter, Hannah McKee of Annandale, N.J.; and great-granddaughter, Avery Brickman of Okeene.

While a resident of Okeene, June was an active member of First Baptist Church of Okeene. After recently moving to Enid she attended Emmanuel Baptist Church of Enid, Okla. June enjoyed watching her family grow. It would not be stretching reality, but she attended EVERY football, basketball, baseball, track meet, FFA function, school plays of her grandchildren. In recent years, those who knew June didn’t dare call during Oklahoma City Thunder basketball games.

Celebration of life service for June Cox will be 10 a.m. Thursday July 19, 2012, at First Baptist Church, Okeene, with Brad Hawkins officiating. She will be laid to rest along side Bob and Larry in Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Oklahoma City, with Wilkinson Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
