Visitation will be Saturday, January 12th from 4-8pm and Sunday, January 13th from 12-8 pm with family present to greet friends from 6-8 pm. Services will be 10:00 am Monday, January 14th at the South Colonial Chapel, with burial to follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens.

Charles D. Council was born October 13, 1935 in Milburn, Oklahoma to Walter D. Council and Jo Ellen Hood Council.

He is survived by his loving wife, of sixty-three years, Ruth Council; his children, Sheila Council, Shawna and Tommy Buie, and Chuck Council; His grandchildren, Bear Fryar, Christi and Matt Powers, Ryan and Kristi Jo Hurt, John and Stephanie Fryar, Krystle and Travis Fowler, Jessica Hurt, Levi and Madison Thomas, Shelby and Reno Marical, Haley Buie, and Dakota Buie and Tyler Spear; sixteen great grandchildren; his sisters, Barbara Eaton and Mary Rogers; many nieces and nephews; and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter D. Council and Jo Ellen Hood Council, his brother, John Walter Council, and his daughter Cherie Lynn Hurt.

Charles ran a successful masonry company, Council and Jones Masonry, with his best friend, J.T. Jones for forty-five years. He lived an adventurous life full of hunting experiences with friends and family and traveling with his wife. Above all, Charles was a devoted husband, father, grandpa, and papa. He was loved and respected by all who knew him. He will be remembered for his one of a kind character and love for his friends and family. He cherished photos and the memories they held. His legacy will live on through his family, close friends, and the many lives he touched. He was truly one of a kind and, “something special,” as he would often tell his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed but, would want you to always remember his rules to live by, trust in the Lord, work hard, don’t worry, and love everybody; most importantly, “keep lookin’ up.”
