Jill (Burnham) Bowser

Jill Bowser, 80, of Norman passed away Sunday, June 22, 2014, at home with her family.  She was born May 7, 1934 in Milwaukee, to John Alden Burnham and Caroline (Sutton) Burnham.

Jill grew up in Manhattan, NY, attended Pennsylvania College for Women in Pittsburgh PA, and was concurrently trained as an R.N. at Allegheny General Hospital. She received her B.S. in 1956 and married Wayland Wilson Bowser in 1957. She worked in psychiatric, geriatric, and public health nursing over the years. She was a Deacon at 1st Christian Church (Disciples) in Norman, where she and her husband have been members for over 30 years. She was known for her warmth, energy, and had a particular concern for people in need.

Jill was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law Jack Martin Hill.

She is survived by beloved husband of over 55 years Wayland (Wake), sister Mary Anne Hill, and brother John M. Burnham. Also 3 daughters with their spouses and children: Elizabeth & Eric Affsprung, sons Joseph & Daniel; Kristin & Nawarat Liautrakul; and Jennie & David Chao, daughter Rachel and son Wayland.  Also survived by nieces & nephews.

Memorial service will be held this Saturday, June 28, 2014 at 2:00 p.m., at the First Christian Church, 220 S. Webster Avenue in Norman. 

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in memory of Jill to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org. 

Arrangements for Jill and her family were placed in the care of the Vice family at the Hvenbrook Funeral Home of Norman.  Online condolences may be shared at www.HavenbrookFuneralHome.com.
