Funeral services for Jennifer “Lynn” Summers, age 27, of Norman will be held at 10:00 am Monday, July 18, 2011 at the Bethel Baptist Church, 1717 West Lindsey Street in Norman with Reverend Bruce Ingram officiating. 

Jennifer was born August 30, 1983 in Norman, Oklahoma and passed away early Wednesday morning, July 13, 2011 at her home.

Jennifer attended public schools in Norman, later becoming active at Norman High School, using her God given talent in music by participating in Jazz Choir and Musicals.  Everyone loved to hear her beautiful voice.  She graduated Norman High in 2001. 

Jennifer gave her life to Christ at an early age.  She became very active at Bethel Baptist Church where she participated in youth camps, mission trips, and many other youth activities.   

After high school, Jennifer attended  Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Oklahoma for a brief time before returning to Norman to attend the University of Oklahoma.  Jennifer had a love for children and was working towards her goal to complete her degree in special needs and early childhood education.

Jennifer enjoyed using her creative abilities to design and make jewelry.  She loved being with others, laughing, joking and just having a good time.  Thunderbird Clubhouse has played a significant role in Jennifer's life.  She was an active member and enjoyed writing newsletters and participating in art shows and other Clubhouse activities.  She also spent time volunteering at Among Friends. 

Jennifer was very loved by her family and friends.  Her compassion and love for others was evident throughout her life.  She will be immensely missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her parents, Gary and Joyce Hopkins of Norman; her fiancee', Dean Brodsky of Norman; two brothers, Alan Hopkins and his wife, Amybeth of Austin, Texas, and Richard Hopkins of San Antonio, Texas; two sisters, Natalie Summers Claflin and her husband, Brandon of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Jeni Hopkins Grant and her husband, Dallas of Austin, Texas; one sister-in-law, Brenda Waugh-Hopkins of Seattle, Washington; eight nephews; Tristen Hopkins, Jacob Hopkins, Ben Claflin, Zac Claflin, Jack Grant, Noah Hopkins, Ford Grant and Ashton Hopkins; five nieces, Chloe Hopkins, Skyler Hopkins, Lily Grant, Claire Claflin and baby girl Grant; grandparents, Al and Mickey Brewster of Norman, Bob Summers, Sr. of Norman and Bernice Hopkins of Canon City, CO; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Lorene Summers and Richard Hopkins; and two uncles, Johnny Strawn and Bruce Alleman.

Visitation will be held 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, July 16, 2011 and 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, July 17, 2011 with the family greeting friends from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Havenbrook Funeral Home, 3401 Havenbrook St., Norman.
