Robert Talley Rose, 44, of Norman, OK died of cardiac arrest at home on December 2, 2014 following a long-term illness.

Born in Atlanta, Georgia to Judith Talley and Robert King Rose, Rob, much to his father’s pride, weighed in at 10 pounds, “a baby elephant” as proclaimed by the doctor. At the time, he was the only child who could carry on the Rose name.
Rob attended McKinley Elementary, West Mid High and graduated from Norman High School in 1988. Later, Rob graduated from MetroTech in Oklahoma  City. Being a licensed aircraft mechanic, he soon went to work for BF Goodrich Aerospace in Everett, WA. A man of many interests, Rob particularly enjoyed yard work with his maternal grandmother Betty Talley. Rob was a huge Sooner and Thunder fan all of his life.  He was also a great cook and the family especially enjoyed his chicken enchiladas. He also loved his work at JEI Metallurgical, Dallas, TX, where he formed a strong bond with Dr. and Mrs. Craig Jerner. One of the later friendships he formed was with Kathe Green and her late husband, Bruce, owners of Corkscrew Wine and Spirits.

One of Rob’s greatest sources of pride was his service to our country in the U.S. Navy. He served during Operation Desert Storm on the retired U.S.S. Ranger.
On Rob’s last day on earth, Rob was surrounded at home by his high school friends Vito Vardys, Heather Bauer Artman, Christy Stich Cooper, Carl Jones, Chad and Ashley Jones, Paul Schiavo, and Steve Jerner. A special thank you to Murry Parrish, Cory Clayton, Brandon Pointer, Jody Madden, Steven Jones and all the others who offered him comfort. Steve was his caregiver, companion, and chauffeur. Rob’s friends and family were the treasures of his life.

Rob was preceded in death by his father, Robert King Rose, his maternal grandparents Dr. and Mrs. O.J. Talley of Norman, and his paternal grandparents Robert Hudson and Grace Rose of Chickasha and his baby niece Savannah Rose Stanley of Dallas, as well as his beloved uncle Richard Bates Talley of Norman.

He is survived by his mother Judith Talley-Dale and step-father Robert Roy, his sister and family Melissa Rose Stanley, Robert Stanley and daughter Miranda of Dallas, TX, his brother Zachary Hudson Rose, wife Miki and daughter Grace, also of Dallas.
He is also survived by his cousins Samuel Logan Talley, wife Lisa, and children Jackson, Ella, and Luke of Norman, Richard Bates Talley, Jr. of Houston, TX, Bradley Dale Talley, wife Heather, and children Kensie and Max, and Rachel Talley and Rustin Ward, and children Peyton, and Mac, and Ashley Peters and children Darian and Monroe, and Shelby and husband Devon Wright and children Justin and Faith. In addition, Rob cared deeply for his aunts Suzanne Talley Williams and Joan Talley.

A memorial service in celebration of Rob’s life will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 11:00AM at IOOF Cemetery in Norman, OK.
