Jimmy Rider, age 77, woke up in Heaven on Friday, December 7, 2012.  Jimmy was born in Norman, OK on April 25, 1935 to Ervin and Nora Rider.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his in-laws, Clark and Louise Waddle, three brothers and two sisters.

A life-long resident of Norman, he married the love of his life, Shirley Waddle on July 24, 1953.  Jimmy is also survived by a brother, Charles Rider of Kansas, daughter Becky and husband Christopher Tyler of Tulsa, daughter Cindy and husband Darryl Goode of Norman, son Randall C. Rider and wife Connie of Norman, grandchildren Braden and wife Brittney Tyler, Alex Tyler, and Cassie Tyler all of Tulsa, Caylee and husband Bryce Mullins of Moore, Eric and Jeffrey Rider of Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico, Paul Rider of Norman, Kenneth Agee of Norman, three great-grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces, close friends, and his beloved dog, Teddy.

Our dad was second to none:  the best husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather (Papa).  He was very gifted in wood-carving, painting, sketching, and basically all aspects of work inside and outside the home and his business.  Respected by all, he gained that  respect by his love for all.

He began his career in the pressroom at the Norman Transcript and eventually retired from the Oklahoma Publishing Company.  He was in high demand from pressrooms in various parts of the world from Jamaica, London, Canada, and places in between for his expertise in setting up a pressroom.

Services will be held at  10:00 a.m.,  Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at the Havenbrook Funeral Home Chapel, 3401 Havenbrook St, Norman, OK with graveside services immediately following.

Donations may be made in memory of Jimmy Rider to First Baptist Church Building Fund, 211 W. Comanche, Norman, OK, 73069.

Online condolences may be made at www.havenbrookfuneralhome.com.
