Winnie was born in Norman , OK, to Ed and Melvina Harmon on Jan 5, 1913. Winnie grew up East of Norman and was the 6th of 10 siblings. As a young girl she enjoyed taking care of her younger siblings and playing basketball at school. As a young woman she spent a lot of time caring for her sick sister, Geneva, as well as helping her start her own business as a beautician. She had wonderful memories of working as a nurse’s aide at the OU infirmary , volunteering with the USO Club during WW II, and working as a switchboard operator for SW Bell. She then worked for Rothschild’s in downtown OKC in the men’s clothing dept for 35 years. Winnie had a great mind and loved to work crossword puzzles and kept track of all her business affairs, balancing her checkbook to the penny until she was 98.

She will be remembered by many of her nieces and nephews for her amazing youthful appearance, her trendy clothes and high heel shoes, her special birthday and Christmas gifts to them, her unique and direct personality, her humor, as well as her love and loyalty to her family.

Winnie is survived by brothers Lester Harmon of Norman, Franklin “Frank” Harmon and wife Leona of Norman. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their families...Karen Strawn, John Alagood, Linda Alleman Kennedy, Laurie Alleman Goree, Cindy Alleman Puckett, Joyce Hopkins, Natalie Claflin, Tom Simonson, Ann Simonson, David Simonson, Eva Jo and Roland Kruis and many other nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Winnie was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Mary Florence Hutchins, Iva Harmon White, Margaret Simonson, Geneva Harmon, and Mildred “Mickey” Brewster and her husband, Al and brothers John Harmon and Charlie Harmon, as well as niece Jennifer Summers and nephews Johnny Strawn and Bruce Alleman.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Grace Living Center in Edmond for their most excellent and attentive care and compassion for Winnie.
