Emogene Rose Galyen, age 87, of Norman, Oklahoma passed away Friday, September 9, 2016. 

She was born November 16, 1928 to William Rose and Anna (Edwards) Presley. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and four of her seven siblings: Carl Rose of Hugo, Edward “Bud” Rose of Pauls Valley, William “Junior” Rose of Marion OH, Norma “Sis” Lee of Pauls Valley, and brother-in-law Royal “Rex” Cline of Norman. 

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, LaVern I. Galyen, D.D.S, sister Billie Goldesberry of Tulsa, sister and brother-in-law Juanita (Skeet) and Kenneth Lively of Broken Arrow, and sister-in-law Wanda “Louise” Cline of Norman.  Emogene is also survived by two daughters and one son, and their spouses: Bonnie & Gustin Wood of Newcastle, Beverly & James Fenley of Norman, and Marcus & Brenda Galyen of Newnan, GA., 6 grandchildren and their spouses, Jan & Brent Fairchild, Sherry & Jerred Vandevort, Brent W. Smith, Brian C. Simonds, Lacey & David Clark and Terran Galyen, 11 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and 16 nephews and nieces.

Emogene grew up in Seminole, Oklahoma and received her high school diploma from that city.  She and LaVern met at a dance in Shawnee, Oklahoma and were married in that city in 1950.  During her lifetime she enjoyed dancing, bowling, playing cards, dominoes and bingo. She liked to sew and loved to cook.
She also loved OU football and basketball (mens and womens), attending home games and traveling to many out-of-town games for many years, including bowl games and championships.  Around age 50, she began assisting LaVern in his dental practice in Norman, and retired with him in 2005. In January, 2015 they moved into assisted living at Rivermont Gardens.
Emogene was a sweet, caring soul, always mindful of the needs of her family and very giving of her time and possessions.  She is loved by her family and will be missed in this life, but will be re-united with them in the next.

Visitation will be from 3-8pm Monday, September 12 at Havenbrook Funeral Home. Services to celebrate her life will be 2pm Tuesday, September 13 at Havenbrook Funeral Home.
