Sidelle Chloe Young Bratcher was born September 20th, 1915, in Lone Grove, Oklahoma, to Claud W. Young and Mattie Lavada Young and passed away Saturday, June 2, 2012.  She graduated as valedictorian from Lone Grove High School, and from Southeastern Oklahoma State University (then known as Southeastern State). She married Grover Bratcher, a fellow teacher in Lone Grove, in 1940.

In her life, she was a loving wife, mother, teacher, mother-in-law, grandmother, ands great grandmother. Grover and Sidelle began their married life teaching in a two teacher school. They came to Norman in 1957 where she taught at McKinley Elementary until she retired in 1977, after teaching for 35 years.  Sidelle was active in Kappa Kappa Iota Teachers Sorority. Sidelle was an active member of the First Baptist Church and Bethel Baptist Church of Norman. Prior to her death, for the last 12 years, Sidelle resided in Coppell, Texas.

Sidelle was preceded in death by her parents; brothers and sisters, Ralph Young, Paul Young, Claud Young, Ruth Young, Velma Vickers, Ganelle Young, and Bob Young.

She is survived by brother W. O. Young.  She is also survived by daughter Karen Beecham and husband, Roger of Coppell, Texas; daughter Mary Morrow and husband, Don of Yukon; grandchildren, Matthew Beecham, Rachel V. Beecham; Rachel Beecham Schlosser and Clint Schlosser; David and Melynda Affentranger, Michael Hardwick, and Jenny Hardwick; great grandchildren, Brayden Beecham, Dean Schlosser and Winn Schlosser. 

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, June 7, 2012, in the Chapel of the Havenbrook Funeral Home, 3401 Havenbrook Street, Norman with interment at I.O.O.F. Cemetery of Norman.  Visitation will be held 9:00 am – 8:00 pm Wednesday, June 6, 2012 with the family greeting friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Havenbrook Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Bethel Baptist Church, 1717 W. Lindsey, Norman, Oklahoma 73069.
