Wanda Alexander, age 88 of Norman, passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2015, at the Brookhaven Extensive Care Center.

Wanda Lee Birden was born February 4, 1927 in Newcastle, Oklahoma, the baby of 6 children born to Decator Elmer Birden and Venie Lee (Ketner) Birden. She was raised in Newcastle and attended school there. Wanda worked as a clerk in the insurance business for most of her life. She was an office clerk for Farmers Insurance for many years. She married her best friend and soul mate Eugene “Gene” Alexander and they made their home in Oklahoma City. And though they never had any children of their own, they loved and spoiled their nieces and nephews. Wanda enjoyed spending weekends at the lake. She loved to water ski and just being out in nature. Wanda loved animals and especially her favorite two dogs, Bo and Daisy. She even purchased squirrel feed to care for and her neighborhood friends. In her later years, Wanda willingly took on the role of family caregiver. She retired to take care of her mother, and later her sister when they were in need. She was a loving, nurturing spirit who gave freely, loved fiercely, and lived life to the fullest. She will be dearly missed!

She was preceded in death by: Her parents, Elmer and Venie Birden; Sisters, Nola Cheatham, Oleta Wilson and Myrtle Harris; Brothers, Jesse Birden and “Bud” Lawrence Birden; Nephew, Charley Wilson and Gene’s Nephew, Richard Alexander.

Wanda leaves behind: 4 nieces and nephews, Teresa Welch of Lone Grove, OK, Susan Kay Birden of OKC, Larry Birden of Jones and Rickey Wilson of Blanchard; Several great nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.

Graveside Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Saturday December 19, 2015, at the Noble I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Arrangements by Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell. Send online condolences at wilsonlittle.
