Memorial services for Jewell Lee May Wilmoth, 98, of Oklahoma City were held Sept. 7, 2005 at Putnam City Baptist Church. Services were under the direction of Guardian West Funeral Home in Oklahoma City.
Mrs. Wilmoth died Sept. 4, 2005 in Oklahoma City.
She was born Feb. 19, 1907 in Lexington, Okla., Indian Territory, the eldest of 13 siblings of Lewis Jehu May and Lillie Grace Jarboe May. She graduated from Wayne High School in 1926 and Draughn’s Business College in Oklahoma City.
A faithful member of Putnam City Baptist Church, she was active in the church choir for nearly 50 years, worked with children in Sunday school and Vacation Bible School and for many years was active in her seniors group, attending daily.
She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers, Lester May, Jesse May, Walter May, L.J. May, Vernon May and Robert May; two sisters, Edna Wilson and Dorothy Suchy; her husband, Henry Clay Wilmoth; two sons, Henry Clay Wilmoth Jr. and James Dale Wilmoth; two daughters, Doris Elizabeth Ogden and Diana Sue Tucker; a son-in-law, Jackie G. Brooks; a grandson, Robin Clarc Wilmoth and a great-granddaughter, Robin Ann Wilmoth.
Survivors include her sister, Grace Evelyn Chassot; a brother, Edwin Dale May and his wife, Faye; two daughters, Bette Lou Brooks and Jewell Louise Fent and her husband, Arthur B. Fent Jr.; 13 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Choir Ministry at Putnam City Baptist Church.
