Funeral services for Lonnie Jeff Richards, 56, of Lexington were held Sept. 7, 2005 at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Randy Golden officiating and Darrell Cossey giving the eulogy. Interment was at Corbett Cemetery in Corbett under the direction of Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.
Mr. Richards died Sept. 3, 2005 at his home.
He was born Sept. 18, 1948 in Oklahoma City, the only child of Jeff and Joy Marie Richards. His father died prior to his birth and he was reared by his mother and stepfather, Ivan Rice, in Oklahoma City where he attended school, graduating from Capitol Hill High School in 1965. Following high school he played guitar in several different bands.
Mr. Richards married Lynda Hudson Dec. 2, 1967 in Oklahoma City. The couple had four children. He lived in Oklahoma City until about 10 years when he moved to Lexington and his family followed.
He worked as a sheetrocker most of his life and also drove a truck for a couple of years. He shared his muscial talent with many, including singing and playing his guitar for the musical ministry at Lexington Nursing Home for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his stepfather.
Survivors include his wife, Lynda Richards, of the home; his children, Stephanie Howard, Pam Dunlap and her husband, James, and Lonnie Richards and his wife, Tracy, all of Lexington and Jeff Richards and his wife, Angela, of Newcastle; a sister, Jeanette Rice Dover of Oklahoma City; a special cousin/brother, Ray Rector of Oklahoma City and 12 grandchildren and one on the way.
Pallbearers were Ryan Hudson, Ronnie Peltier, Jimmy Bradley, Jim Mooneyham, Chris Carter, Jeremy Robertson, Steve Bradley and Scott Howard.
Honorary pallbearers were Paul Arvieux II, Ray Rector, Rodney Dyson, Lance Lawson, Abram Hudson and Ezra Bitseedy.
