Pampa - Joe Hawkins, 86, died Thursday, May 9, 2002.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors Colonial Chapel with Dr. Randy White, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
Mr. Hawkins was born Feb. 3, 1916, in Pilot Point and came to Pampa in 1927 from there. He married Frances Elaine Thompson on Dec. 24, 1942, in Panhandle.
He was owner and operator of Joe Hawkins Appliances from 1945 until his retirement in 1977. He was a member of First Baptist Church and Everyman's Bible Class. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his wife on Nov. 9, 2001.
Survivors include a daughter, Elaine Eddins and husband, Jack, of Pampa; a son, Billy Hawkins and wife, Cynthia, of Amarillo; a brother, Harris Hawkins of Hollywood, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Leslie Jabor and husband, Dr. Miled, and Reagan Eddins and wife, Gracie, all of Lubbock, Judson Eddins of Pampa, Emily Hawkins of Washington, Andy Hawkins of Kansas City, Kan., Melanie Hawkins of Norman, Okla., and Joey Hawkins and Will Hawkins, both of Amarillo; and six great-grandchildren, Miled Jabor Jr., Abigail Jabor, John Jabor, Judson Eddins, Christian Eddins and Kate Eddins, all of Lubbock.
The family suggests memorials be to BSA Hospice, 800 N. Sumner St., Pampa, TX 79065; First Baptist Church, 203 N. West St., Pampa, TX 79065; or a favorite charity.
