Raymond Charles Waldron Sr. age 92 of Noble, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2016 in Lexington.

He was born July 15, 1924 in Ozark, Arkansas. He was the 9th child of 11 children born to Edward Donald Waldron and Pearl Ann (Long) Waldron. At a young age his family moved to Oklahoma and lived near Minco. There he learned how to work hard as a boy working in the cotton fields, hoeing and picking cotton. As a teenager, his parents moved to California to find work in the vegetable farms. It was there, while working on a potato farm he met the love of his life, Mary Ellen Moore. On July 14, 1944, one day before his 20th birthday they were united in marriage in Bakersfield. Together, Ray and Mary raised three children, Ray Jr., Brinda and Linda. Their first 10 years of marriage they lived back and forth between California and Oklahoma. Then in 1954 they made their permanent home in Noble. Ray soon had two full times jobs, working at the University of Oklahoma as an Electrician and milking cows on his own dairy farm. He worked both jobs for six years before giving up the cow milking. After retiring from the University, Ray kept himself busy by fishing, hunting, camping and attending to his mules. He was a member of the Sooner Teamsters and 89ers Trail Riders Association and for many years he enjoyed taking his mules and his homemade covered wagon on trail rides and parades. Ray was a faithful Christian and was a member of the Liberty Gospel Tabernacle in Slaughterville for nearly 37 years. He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, great and great great grandfather. He will be greatly missed.
