Funeral services for William Edward (Bill) Barber, 46, of Lexington were held Aug. 15, 2005 at Lexington First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dale Kirkhuff officiating. Interment was at Lexington Cemetery under the direction of Wadley’s Funeral Service.
Mr. Barber died Aug. 12, 2005 at Purcell Municipal Hospital.
He was born Nov. 23, 1958 in Wilson, the son of Archie and Carol (Gray) Barber. He was reared in Tryon, attending Perkins-Tryon schools.
On June 11, 1976 he married Cathy Lynn Foutch in Tryon.
Mr. Barber was an oilfield worker for Goober Drilling Corporation as a drilling superintendent.
He was a member of the Tryon Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Cathy, of the home; three children, Michael Barber, Becky Perry and her husband, Shawn, and Jeff Barber, all of Lexington; two brothers, John Barber of Post, Texas, and Carl Barber of Wichita, Kan.; one sister, Dixie Johnson of Tryon; one daughter-in-law, Kristen Barber of Lexington and five grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Michael Barber, Jeff Barber, Jason Barber, John Barber, Freddie Gates and Tommy King.
Honorary pallbearers were Mike Carlton and Jim Mooneyham.
